In the Great Lakes Region, we are expanding the workforce in support of the water sector. Driven by employer needs, education and community partners are training technicians, scientists, and engineers specializing in areas including stormwater management, risk assessment, watershed sciences, environmental compliance, and data analytics. Across this industry partnership we are working to meet economic and societal needs along Lake Erie.

A survey of employers was conducted to gather information to better understand local workforce needs, to identify training needs associated with those workforce needs, and to assist with identifying opportunities for occupational analysis and input for supporting curriculum development.

Based on the results of the employer needs assessment, a DACUM (Developing a Curriculum) analysis was conducted to systematically describe the work of the Data Collection and Analysis Function across job levels and titles supporting the water industry.

The results of this analysis serve as input to inform curriculum development.
